On 26th of November 2023, we are organising conference about peaceful transition and democratic process in Somaliland, this a pivotal event will delve important issues include unemployment, youth and women’s participation in leadership and politics, climate change, security and how Somaliland can maintain international norms and treaties like freedom of speech and protecting human rights. The event will host intellectuals and prominent guest and key note speakers both from Somaliland and here in UK, It will address what a role British Somalilanders can take to contribute historic relationship between Somaliland and UK. The conference is scheduled to take place on 26th of November at Future Inn Hotel, Bond St, Bristol BS1 3EN Bristol. 5:30-9:00 PM.
The conference will focus on three fundamental themes:
1. Peaceful transition and democratic process in Somaliland: We aim to explore the progress and challenges in Somaliland’s democratic process and peaceful transition of power.
Your insights on these matters will help us better to understand the current state of democracy in the region.
2. Youth and women’s participation in upcoming elections: We will delve into underrepresentation of women and youth in Somaliland politics and leadership, addressing barriers and creating space to promote youth participation and gender equality in politics and decision-making platforms.
Women and young people are still underrepresented across all levels of political leadership in Somaliland and gender equality in politics is long way out of reach. The discussions will explore and emphasis what role British Somalilanders can take to contribute and bestow upon the UK’s historic relationship with Somaliland.
3. Future Concerns of the Country: This segment will focus your vision and political agenda of opposition party regarding stability and development of Somaliland. Discussion will address crucial issues like unemployment, youth and women’s participation in leadership and politics, climate change, security and how Somaliland can maintain international norms and treaties like freedom of speech and protecting human rights.
